3 reasons why I prefer yoga to other forms of movement

Many believe that yoga is a sport or a way to find flexibility.
Others believe it is meditating and sitting, punting your mind in blank.

The truth is that yoga is not for everyone, but we can all benefit from practicing it, many times we do parts of yoga without even knowing.
Well, the reality is that yoga is a philosophy of life.
That’s what made me fall in love with this ancient practice.

That teaches you how to live. What we see on Instagram and Pinterest is what society wants to sell us, but there is sop much more:
Here is my first favorite part of yoga:

I AM ENOUGH

It took me many years and many reminders from the universe to accept this precept:

I am enough

While society and the media intensely show us everything we could have, be or achieve; With tips, products and trends that leave us exhausted and disillusioned by everything we lack;
yoga teaches me the incredible value I have as a human being, with my virtues, with everything I do have. That is where my greatest power lies.

That doesn’t mean that I come to this world and not being able to evolve, grow and change, but it changes the whole perspective to a positive way where I add to the magic that I already have.

IMPERMANENCE

The sooner we understand this precept, the easier and lighter life will be.
We become reluctant to change, it happens to us in school, in love, in the family, at work. Something was incredibly good and suddenly we realize that It is no longer and we suffer tirelessly for not being able to go back.
It happened to me with my divorce, my greatest frustration and pain was thinking that I loved a person so much that I was no longer happy with. But that is life, people come, moments that teach us, open perspectives of life and many times, they are with us only part of the way, they leave when they have completed their work and we must learn to say goodbye and thank you.
In the practice of yoga, we learn to live in the present moment, in a posture, which is sometimes hard or uncomfortable, which sometimes even awakens emotions that we want to repel, but there, in those 5 breaths we train the mind to feel and then… let go.

The third reason why I love yoga is because

IT’S ABOUT MAKING ME FEEL GOOD

There is already so much in the world that challenges us, that pressures us, that stresses us, that these 60 minutes of the day, being with myself , having music that calms me, people who are in the same vibration of love and peace; This safe space to be and even to stop being and doing.
I love being able to walk onto my mat and say: now I can be me.
